Why is there no Chrysalis you ask?.. Well, erm.. HEY LOOK OVER THERE! Leg it!
The 'Ersatz' M10/Panther was basically a Panther made to mimic the look of the US M10 Wolverine Tank Destroyer. Reading from a few sources tell me that 10 or so Panther Ausf G's were 'disguised' to look like M10's so that German forces (Wearing US uniform) could infiltrate Allied lines to sieze bridges along the Meuse river. While German forces using Jeeps were able to get past Allied sentries, the Ersatz M10/Panther's were pulled into frontline combat alongside other armour and in the end, all Ersatz's were destroyed or disabled in ensuing combat.
I'll admit, I got lazy with this one. I've been working with it on and off for the past week and a half, and I just wanted it done so I could move on to another project.

Holy Smokes! I love this (Of course, I love all of your tank/pony vectors, so I guess that doesn't mean a lot.) Either way, here's something you may find interesting:
"...the Panthers were disguised with sheet metal to resemble American M10 tank destroyers. These, [Otto] Skorzeny cynically noted, were only sufficient to: 'deceive very young American troops seeing them at night from very far away.'" - from 'Hitler's Great Panzer Heist: Germany's Foreign Armor in Action, 1939-1945' (Sorry, I couldn't resist sharing this!)
Either way, it's another great piece from you and your talented , and I look forward to seeing more work! (Oh, and I hope you had an awesome holiday(s) and New Years!)
Ooooh! That's very interesting indeed, it sounds similar to what a friend and I were discussing when we were talking about the Ersatz a while ago. We thought you had to be pretty well blind to be fooled by such a disguise. I took a few screenshots in the WoT tank viewer even, in daylight you'd be able to easily determine if an Erstaz approaching you definitely wasn't an M10 - [link] If a "very young American" was trying to look at one at even further distances, I guess they could always ask a superior for a pair of binoculars.
Anyway, I did have an awesome holiday/New Years thanks mate! I hope it was the same for you!
Crud it is too, not sure why I keep calling it the Erstaz, sounds a bit more catchy to me I suppose. I'll fix that as soon as I next get to my computer.
